PROMISING FRIDAY PRACTICE AT PUKEKOHE AHEAD OF FORECAST WET WEATHER

Lee Holdsworth and David Reynolds held their Ford Mustang’s nice and steady over the bumpy Pukekohe circuit in New Zealand as they plotted our their weekend in Practice on day 1 of the ITM Auckland SuperSprint, today.

With just the single practice session ahead of three races this weekend, Penrite Racing  cruised through the session with Lee Holdsworth showing early promise with the 9th fastest time.

Reynolds meanwhile made several adjustments through the session with a view towards setting up for the sprint races, and in a steady run to P14 on the time sheets.

Here’s what our drivers had to say after Friday’s Practice 1.

Reynolds said: “The car has too much understeer so we’re chasing a little bit of balance, but nonetheless it’s a cool track to drive and great to be back, there’s not much grip out there so

I’m hoping once more racing takes place it will get better.”

“There’s a possibility it will be wet tomorrow so we’ll discuss how we best approach that tonight and come out swinging tomorrow for the first race.

“All in all both cars are reasonably close together and that’s the main thing at this stage.”

Holdsworth said: “It’s good to be top 10 straight out of the box. I like this track and it’s given us a good base to work from to get the car into the right performance window.”

“We knew it would be bumpy this track is but it feels like after 3 years away you can feel them even more now.

“It looks like it will rain at some stage tomorrow so we’ve just got to be flexible as a team and ready to react so we can capitalise. Our cars have been good in the wet all year. Lets see what tomorrow brings.”

Supercars Saturday track schedule tomorrow features Practice 2 at 9.35am, Qualifying at 12.00pm and Championship Race 27 at 2.40pm. All times AEST.
