CAUCHI TO ENGINEER FOR HOLDSWORTH IN TOWNSVILLE

Penrite Racing Team Principal David Cauchi will return to his roots this weekend at the Townsville 500 where he will sub in as race engineer for car #10 driven by Lee Holdsworth.

The announcement comes in the wake of Holdsworth’s regular engineer, Will Davidson, testing positive to COVID-19 on the eve of the team’s departure from Melbourne for the event.

Cauchi brings a winning pedigree with him having won three championships as engineer for Jamie Whincup in 2014 and 2017, then Shane Van Gisbergen in 2021.

“Unfortunately Will has been struck down with covid and won’t travel to Townsville.”

“I certainly didn’t expect to be back engineering a car this year, but I’m looking forward to getting back on the tools with Lee, he’s a very experienced driver and we know the areas we want to improve car #10.

“Hopefully we can come together and get a strong result for the team this weekend,” said Cauchi.

Alistair McVean will continue his role with David Reynolds on Car #26.

Supercars track action begins for Penrite Racing on Friday, July 8 with Practice 1 at 10.10am AEST.
