Penrite Racing Prepares for Darwin Triple Crown: Round 5 Preview

As the Repco Supercars Championship gets ready for round 5, Penrite Racing is prepared to face the trials of the Darwin Triple Crown. The event, taking place from June 14th to 16th at Hidden Valley Raceway, also shines a spotlight on Indigenous Round, during which Penrite Racing will debut a new livery inspired by Indigenous culture.

Designed by two talented Year 9 students from Melbourne Indigenous Transition School (MITS), the new livery adds a colourful touch to the car. Their artwork reflects their personal stories and cultural heritage, rich with symbolism highlighting the importance of family, connection to Country, and the power of education. Currently ranked 4th in the team championships, Penrite Racing is determined to make their mark on the iconic Hidden Valley circuit. Practice sessions are set to commence tomorrow at 11:35 AM (ACST), followed by qualifying at 2:35 PM (ACST). However, this round brings some exciting changes to the format and track. To secure victory, drivers must excel across all three days of the event, including securing the fastest time in Friday’s qualifying session and winning both the Saturday and Sunday races.

In light of these adjustments, the original 90-minute practice session scheduled for Friday will be condensed to 60 minutes. Additionally, a new 30-minute practice session will be introduced on Saturday morning, preceding the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout. The race format remains unchanged, featuring two 137-kilometer races with one compulsory pit stop and at least two tyre changes per car.

Drivers Matt Payne and Richie Stanaway are excited and prepared to take on the challenge this weekend in Darwin’s heat. Payne says, “I’m keen to see how we perform this weekend; we’ve tested and tried a few things that will hopefully improve our overall setup.” Stanaway adds, “We’re ready to give it our all.”

Aside from the main event, fans can look forward to other support categories like Porsche Carrera Cup Australia and V8 SuperUtes throughout the weekend. Viewers from around the world can tune in live on Seven, Foxtel, 7plus, Kayo, and Superview to catch all the action.

With Penrite Racing ready for the challenge ahead, all eyes turn to Darwin for what promises to be an excitng weekend of racing. Stay tuned to the Penrite Racing website for exclusive updates and behind-the-scenes coverage of the Darwin Triple Crown.
