PENRITE RACING SANDOWN LIVERY PAYS HOMAGE TO RACING LEGEND ALLAN MOFFAT OBE

Penrite Racing are proud to unveil a special one-off livery on both their #19 and #26 Ford Mustangs for this weekend’s Penrite Oil Sandown 500.

Naming rights partner and event sponsor, Penrite Oil have announced a partnership with legendary Australian racing car driver – Allan Moffat OBE – a Dementia Australia patron, for the upcoming Penrite Oil Sandown 500.

The partnership is aimed at raising awareness and community support for patients and their families affected by dementia, whilst recognising Allan’s long and successful racing career including his exceptional contribution to the Australian motorsport landscape.

The livery is based upon Moffat’s 1979 XC Federation Falcon featuring bold red, orange and yellow as well as the original Penrite Oil logo on both sides and bonnet of the Gen 3 Mustangs.

Dementia Australia is also the official charity partner of the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 event.

A media call will be held at the Lane 88 Auto Museum today to launch the event and reveal the livery ahead of the weekend. The team’s enduro driver squad will be joined by representatives from Penrite Racing, Penrite and Dementia Australia.

The livery will be on track from Friday 15th of September with practice sessions kicking off the weekend action.

Penrite Racing fields a stellar line up of enduro pairs, with David Reynolds joined by 5-time Bathurst champion and Sandown 500 winner, Garth Tander. Young gun Matt Payne will team up with Porsche factory driver, Kevin Estre who recently completed his first laps in the #19 Mustang at Winton for his evaluation and test day.

Penrite Racing Team Principal, David Cauchi said:

“It is a great initiative that Penrite have undertaken to bring this livery to life in partnership with Allan Moffat and Dementia Australia.

This is a fantastic way to create awareness for Dementia Australia as well as mark the return of the Sandown 500 event. We are excited to see the cars on track with our four endurance drivers behind the wheel and look forward to doing Penrite, Dementia Australia and Allan Moffat proud.”

Penrite Racing Endurance Co-Driver Garth Tander said:

“The livery looks fantastic, and I am honoured to drive the #26 Ford Mustang at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 in this special livery to raise awareness for a really important cause.

Allan and Phil Grant have done tremendous work with Dementia Australia and the team will certainly be working hard to achieve a strong result for Penrite, Allan and Dementia Australia.”

Dementia Australia CEO Maree McCabe AM said it was a privilege to be part of such a significant event in the Repco Supercars Championships calendar.

“I extend my gratitude to Penrite Oil and Supercars for inviting Dementia Australia to be a part of this exciting opportunity to raise awareness and funds to support dementia services and programs,” Ms McCabe said.

“It is so exciting to see Dementia Australia’s logo included in the historic livery launched today.

“Allan Moffat as our Patron and his support network have been so generous in sharing about his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease to raise awareness in the community and vital funds for Dementia Australia,”
