TEAM QUOTES

Matt Payne – Car #19

“For myself I think I made a big step forward in overall pace. We did a good job of getting the car right from the get-go so we maximised it on the first day (Saturday) and had a pretty good qualifying. I didn’t have a new set of green tyres for the last part (third part of Qualifying for Race 20) so that hurt our starting position. We started and finished P7 which has been our best result for very long time and it’s good to have some speed in the cars. Sunday we had good speed again; qualifying P3 and P5. Managed to hold on and get P6 and I dropped back a little bit after the pit stop. The last race we had a good start and started P5, then we had a drama in the pit stop which cost quite a bit of time.

Hopefully we can carry the good speed into Sandown for the endurance races in a few weeks time.”

David Reynolds – Car #26

“My race pace has been good, but it has always been my style at this track; I have always raced a lot better than I have qualified. Yesterday I qualified P17 and finished P13; the car was a little bit off the pace and then we plugged a similar set up to Matt the next day which was much better. I qualified P8 and P16. I probably didn’t get the most out of the second Qualifying and under-drove in some areas so not the best performance. But in the races my car came alive and I got a mega start in the Race on Sunday and I was third on the last lap and Chaz lunged me at the first corner and got past me so I ended up P4. It is our best race for a long time. We qualified P16 and I was in a big battle at the start and dropped a few spots, then made it back and I finished P9 except I got a 15 second in-race penalty so that was a sad end to our day but I still think we finished 9th regardless of the penalty.

Next race the Penrite Oil Sandown 500; I am really looking forward to that race its is a really fun one to do.”
