IN THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE: THRIFTY NEWCASTLE 500

We spoke with Team Principal, David Cauchi who reflected on the last few months, the Gen3 build, and expectations for the season opener.

“A huge amount of work has gone on over the last few months from all of the crew here. We’ve had a number of test days with our cars – things have gone really well and we are excited to go racing and see these Gen3 cars on track competing against each other for the first time.

“All the crew here have put in a massive amount of hours over the last few months to get these cars built. Only a few months ago they were a bare chassis; not even painted, so they’ve gone from that to complete race cars. It’s been a huge commitment; a lot of sacrifice from everybody here…

“I am proud of the whole team; getting the cars and everything ready for Newcastle has been no small task but they have taken it in their stride and a lot of learning and growth has come from it all.

“Every new season brings its challenges, and this year will be no exception, but I have seen first-hand the capability that our team possess and the potential we have, so I have no doubt that we can accomplish great things in 2023.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into the routine of racing. We have a strong team, we all know and work with each other well so that will be of great benefit as we work to understand our new cars and work with the drivers to fine-tune the setups.

“A massive thank you to all the crew and all our partners for supporting us. We can’t wait to get racing.”
