PENRITE RACING COMPLETES FIRST LAPS IN GEN3 AT WINTON

Penrite Racing took to Winton Motor Raceway for their first test of 2023 with their #19 Gen3 Ford Mustang.

Driving duties were shared between main drivers, David Reynolds and Matthew Payne as well as Co-Driver, Garth Tander.

The first car built under Grove Group ownership completed laps of the Winton circuit with its season livery on full display.

Team Principal David Cauchi said:

“It was great to see the Penrite Racing Mustang out on the circuit for the first time today. Everyone has worked very hard to get these cars built so to see them now cutting laps is a real achievement for everybody. There’s a lot to learn, a brand-new car with new regulations. It’s going to be fun to start to understand the car and how to make it go fast and fine-tune all the little details. [We’re working with] the drivers and crew to understand how to operate the car efficiently and smoothly. [It is] very exciting and fun to be back at a racetrack.“

Matthew Payne, Driver #19 Penrite Racing Ford Mustang said:

“It’s been fantastic to drive the Penrite Racing Ford Mustang Gen3 car. [We] had great initial set-up and progress throughout the day. It’s awesome to actually see it on track, I really like the livery. It’s been great getting used to the new car. It is certainly a lot different to the old Gen2 but it’s going to be interesting at Round 1 in Newcastle – a street track and it’s also going to be interesting seeing how everyone else adapts to the driving style.”

Garth Tander, Penrite Racing Co-Driver and Grove Junior Team mentor said:

“The day’s gone well, obviously a roll-out of the new car and brand new regs so [there were] a couple of little teething issues but nothing that is an issue whatsoever and fixed all those. [We] got into performance tuning pretty quickly [and it] was good for Dave, Matt and myself to all drive the car, we all gave very similar feedback so a nice start to the Gen3 Era.”

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle on March 10-12.
