The Prebrief – The Bend 

Penrite Racing returns to the scene of its last race win – The Bend, this weekend for the OTR SuperSprint. Situated an hour and a half from Adelaide in South Australia the purpose built track for the 8th event of 13 on the Supercars calendar. 

Here’s what the team his on the menu this weekend.

The Circuit: Racing on the 18 corner 4.950km layout dubbed the International Circuit. It’s clockwise with a top speed of 270km/h and an average speed of 162km/h.

Race Format: 3 x 24 lap sprint races

The Weather: Saturday – no rain with a top of 16, Sunday – morning showers clearing by midday for a top of 15.

Race times: Saturday @ 4:45pm AEST and Sunday @ 1.00pm and 4:10pm

Supercars Lap Record: Our man David Reynolds 1:49.4042 (International Circuit)

Championship positions: Reynolds 7th, Holdsworth 13th.

Teams championship – 4th

Reynolds says: “The Bend is a cool circuit and it’s usually windier than a baked bean convention out there so we have to be mindful of how the weather affects the car.”

Holdsworth says: “”I’m determined to bounce back this weekend. It’s a high speed flowing track, high in grip, and very smooth. Generally the Penrite cars have been fast on those kind of circuits this year. Given its back to the sprint format, we don’t have much time to tune the balance before qualifying so it’s important we roll out with a good balance.”
